We wanted to provide an update regarding the ongoing sewer leak and unattended pothole in Prince Umhlangane Road, issues that have understandably raised concerns amongst our members.
Current Situation: The sewer leak continues to be a significant challenge. While the relevant eThekwini Municipality teams have been responding on an ad hoc basis by jetting the line, a permanent solution has not yet been identified. This persistent leak complicates the Roads Department’s ability to address the associated pothole effectively.
Temporary Measures: In the interim, the Roads Department has put up warning signage and temporarily filled the pothole with sand to mitigate immediate hazards. These measures are crucial for maintaining safety until a more permanent repair can be executed.
Recent Developments: Following the presence of the Water and Sanitation teams over the weekend, we have requested the Roads Department to reassess the situation. With the sewer overflow subsiding, there is hope that a more permanent repair to the pothole can be undertaken soon.
Ongoing Engagement: We continue to escalate these issues with the relevant municipal departments, emphasising the need for a lasting resolution. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated as we navigate these challenges and work towards a satisfactory solution.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. We will keep you updated on any significant developments.
