March saw continued collaboration between eThekwini Municipality departments and Metro Police in Riverhorse Valley, with visible progress on both infrastructure maintenance and by-law enforcement. While certain challenges remain, consistent engagement and follow-ups are contributing to steady improvements across the precinct.
Metro Police activity and by-law enforcement
Metro Police remained active in the precinct throughout the month, conducting regular operations and supporting by-law enforcement at the request of the Management Association.
However, illegal parking and road obstructions caused by trucks continue to be a challenge, particularly in key access areas. We once again urge members to coordinate deliveries in a way that avoids vehicle stacking on public roads, ensuring the safe and free movement of traffic and limiting disruption for other road users.
eThekwini Municipality service delivery highlights
Ongoing fault reporting and consistent engagement with various municipal departments are beginning to yield more responsive service delivery, with certain issues now receiving weekly attention.
Key activities and resolutions in March included:
-
Streetlight repairs along Hippo Park Avenue, improving visibility and night-time safety
-
Freshwater leak repairs on Corobrick Road, addressing water loss and surface damage
-
Stormwater manhole repair in Corobrick Place, reducing drainage risks
-
Municipal grass cutting along Musa Dladla Drive, contributing to verge maintenance
-
Sidewalk reinstatement work on Queen Nandi Drive and Hippo Park Avenue, restoring pedestrian access after infrastructure-related disruptions
These efforts are essential in ensuring the precinct remains safe, functional, and well-maintained, especially in light of the ongoing weather-related challenges. We thank members for their continued cooperation and encourage prompt reporting of faults and concerns to support efficient municipal response.
