The fever tree removal project in Imvubu Park Place has been successfully completed. This was an important infrastructure upgrade aimed at improving road safety and protecting precinct assets.
Why the Trees Were Removed
Over time, seven fever trees had grown extensively, with aggressive root systems spreading beneath the roadway and adjacent pavements. This resulted in significant upliftment of road surfaces and walkways, creating safety hazards for both vehicles and pedestrians, while also damaging critical infrastructure.
Following a detailed assessment, RHVBEMA removed the affected trees to prevent further deterioration and ensure long-term stability within the precinct. To reduce traffic congestion and inconvenience, the project was carefully scheduled over seven consecutive weekends.
Project Completion and Benefits
The project has now been successfully finalised, with the affected roadways and pavements stabilised. Key benefits of the fever tree removal project include:
- Improved road safety for motorists and pedestrians
- Prevention of further infrastructure damage
- Enhanced accessibility within Imvubu Park Place
- Long-term cost savings on road and pavement repairs
