Planned 24-Hour Water Supply Interruption – 2 July 2026

Live Alerts

The eThekwini Municipality has advised of a planned 24-hour shutdown of the Northern Aqueduct to allow for essential maintenance on the bulk water supply system.

The shutdown is expected to be completed by 02:00 on Friday, 3 July 2026.

Riverhorse Valley affected

Riverhorse Valley  is one of the areas expected to experience a temporary interruption to its water supply during the maintenance period.

The planned work includes:

  • Repairing multiple leaks along the trunk pipeline.
  • Replacing faulty air valves.
  • Completing associated pipework repairs.
  • Inspecting, pressure testing and safely recommissioning the system before normal operations resume.

Water supply will be restored progressively once maintenance has been completed and reservoirs have had sufficient time to refill.

What you should do

Members, businesses and residents are encouraged to:

  • Store sufficient water ahead of the shutdown where possible.
  • Use water sparingly once supply has been restored, while the network returns to normal operating pressure.

The RHVE Management Association will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates should any additional information become available.
