NOTICE: Planned Water Shutdown 14 July 2026

Live Alerts

Members are advised to take note of a planned water shutdown scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, as communicated by eThekwini Water and Sanitation.

The shutdown will commence at 01:00 on 14 July 2026 and is expected to continue until approximately 01:00 on 15 July 2026.

This planned interruption is required to allow eThekwini Water and Sanitation to carry out repairs to an 800 mm steel pipeline in Hippo Park Avenue (Point E). The Northern Aqueduct will be isolated to ensure the repairs are completed safely.

Several areas supplied by reservoirs fed from the Umgeni Water Durban Heights Water Treatment Works via the Northern Aqueduct may experience water supply interruptions. These include:

Newlands Reservoirs 1, 2, 3 and 4
KwaMashu Reservoirs 1 and 2
Ntuzuma Reservoirs 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7
Amoutana Reservoir
Aloes Reservoir
Sea Cow Lake Reservoir
Effingham Reservoir
Durban North High Level Reservoir
Durban North Low Level Reservoir
Beachway Reservoir
Virginia Reservoirs 1 and 2
Sunningdale Reservoir and Towers
Umhlanga North Reservoir
Umhlanga South Reservoir
Umhlanga 2 Reservoir
Phoenix Reservoirs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6
Mount View Reservoir
Trenance 1 Reservoir
Trenance 3 Reservoir

Residents and businesses are encouraged to store sufficient water ahead of the shutdown period. Once repairs are complete, the system will be inspected, pressure tested, and recommissioned. Water supply will be restored progressively as reservoirs refill, and some areas may take longer than others to return to normal supply.
