Over the past few weeks, our cleaning, greening, and maintenance teams have continued with their routine and ad-hoc tasks, ensuring the precinct remains in top condition. Although only 4mm of rainfall was recorded, efforts have ramped up to prepare for the upcoming rainy season while maintaining a high standard of landscaping throughout the precinct.
New Gardens and Irrigation Repairs
With the reinstatement of damaged irrigation infrastructure along Corobrick Road and Corobrick Close, our teams were able to focus on refreshing and expanding green spaces. This included the installation of new gardens in Corobrick Place and the revitalisation of existing beds along Hippo Park Avenue. These enhancements not only improve the visual appeal of the precinct but also contribute to environmental resilience.

Demonstrating once again that small things counts, hedges were also cut along Kubu Avenue adding to the improved appearance of the precinct.

Tree Trimming and Camera Visibility
A major focus this month was on trimming overgrown trees across the precinct. Special attention was given to areas where vegetation was obstructing the line of sight for CCTV cameras, supporting overall security efforts and maintaining unobstructed surveillance coverage.

Litter Collection and Alien Invasive Control
The alien invasive control teams continued their work with full boundary cuts and extensive litter picking across cut zones including the N2. An impressive 1,835 refuse bags were collected during the period. This ongoing effort plays a key role in maintaining hygiene, reducing pest habitats, and improving the overall appearance of the precinct. To aid in litter control, a new waste bin was placed along Queen Nandi Drive.

Verge and Drain Maintenance
Servest reinstated damaged verges, ensuring that road edges remain neat and accessible. Drain cleaning was also prioritised, especially in low-lying areas prone to pooling during rain. Our team also undertook the labour intense task of removing rubble from verges left by contractors and municipal teams post repairs. This proactive maintenance helps minimise the risk of flooding and infrastructure degradation.

These continuous efforts reflect our commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and visually pleasing environment for all Riverhorse Valley users. As we head into a wetter season, these preparatory measures ensure the precinct remains functional and attractive, no matter the weather.
