July was another productive month for Riverhorse Valley, with RHVBEMA teams continuing to deliver high standards across safety and security, cleaning, greening and maintenance.
The month was particularly notable for a strong security performance, ongoing environmental management initiatives and the successful completion of a key CCTV expansion project.
Landscaping Keeps the Precinct Looking Its Best
Cleaning, greening and maintenance teams continued to deliver against scheduled work programmes throughout July. Key activities included:
- Garden maintenance across the precinct
- Replanting and landscaping in key public areas
- Regular grass cutting programmes
- Sand clearing and environmental upkeep
- Continued improvements to precinct signage
Attention was given to Riverhorse Road, Riverhorse Close and Hippo Park Avenue, where landscaping teams carried out replanting and garden maintenance to ensure the precinct maintained its professional appearance.
In addition to routine maintenance programmes, teams completed several targeted improvement projects during the month, including:
- Tree pruning to improve CCTV visibility
- Installation of a new signboard in Hippo Park Avenue
- Ongoing environmental management interventions and general maintenance
No Security Incidents
Riverhorse Valley maintained a stable and secure operating environment throughout July, with no criminal incidents reported in public open spaces.
Visible policing and proactive monitoring remained a priority, with RHVBEMA security teams working closely with SAPS, Metro Police and private security providers to ensure a coordinated response to activity within the precinct.
3 New CCTV Cameras
A significant security milestone this month was the completion of the new CCTV installation at Riverhorse Close. The project included one new PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera and two new static surveillance cameras.
The installation was identified through ongoing precinct safety assessments, which highlighted the area as a surveillance blind spot due to development that occurred after the original CCTV network was established. To maximise visibility, maintenance teams also undertook tree pruning around Riverhorse Close, improving sight lines for the new camera infrastructure.
With zero public-space security incidents recorded and continued investment in infrastructure and environmental management, Riverhorse Valley remains one of Durban’s leading business precincts.
