Rainy season brings fresh growth: October’s cleaning, greening, and maintenance update in Riverhorse Valley

Cleaning, Greening and Maintenance

With the rainy season in full swing, our greening teams have been actively responding to the lush growth throughout Riverhorse Valley. Increased rain has brought an added focus on grass cutting, tree trimming, and enhanced maintenance to keep the precinct looking vibrant and well-maintained.

Greening and New Garden Installations
This month, our teams have installed a new garden along Riverhorse Road and undertaken tree trimming around Island Circle. The rains have encouraged rapid growth, making these additions and upkeep essential for preserving the precinct’s inviting appearance.

Monthly Site Visits with Servest and GI Services
As part of our regular performance management, we conducted site visits with contracted service providers Servest and GI Services. These visits allow us to assess ongoing efforts and identify areas for improvement to keep up with the seasonal demands.

Key Maintenance Activities in October
Our teams have worked diligently across the precinct, focusing on the following areas:

  • Garden and Hedge Maintenance:
    • Gardens maintenance at Imvubu Park
    • Garden replanting in Island Circle
    • Replanting at the Prince Umhlangane entrance feature
    • Hedge maintenance at Imvubu Park Place
  • Grass Cutting and Trimming:
    • Grass cutting along Prince Umhlangane Road and throughout the precinct
    • Embankment grass cutting on Musa Dladla Road
    • Tree trimming and tree stump cutting in Imvubu Park Place
  • General Upkeep:
    • Verge maintenance and bollard realignment
    • Weeding of gardens

Alien Invasive Control and Litter Collection
Our alien invasive control teams have been working along the wetlands, addressing invasive species to protect local flora. Additionally, they collected 360 bags of litter from riverbanks and surrounding areas, keeping the precinct clean and ecologically balanced.

The combined efforts of our cleaning, greening, and maintenance teams ensure that Riverhorse Valley remains a thriving, well-maintained environment, especially through the challenges of the rainy season.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain the beauty and functionality of our precinct.
