Over 1,500 Bags of Litter and 28 Tyres Removed in RHV

Riverhorse Valley’s cleaning, greening, and maintenance teams continued to deliver steady progress through October, building on their proactive approach to precinct upkeep and environmental care.

Boosting Greening Through New Gardens and Rainfall Relief

A notable highlight this month was the installation of vibrant new gardens in Quarry Park and along Queen Nandi Drive. With 35mm of rainfall recorded, irrigation systems were given some natural support—helping to maintain the lush, green look across the precinct’s public spaces.

In addition to new plantings, the teams also tackled targeted weeding along Riverhorse Road and Imvubu Park Place, and undertook the cutting down of Dietes plants along Riverhorse Road to rejuvenate older landscaping zones.

Tree Trimming and Verge Maintenance

Routine grass cutting along Queen Nandi Drive and extensive tree pruning on the N2, Island Circle, and other key routes formed part of October’s vegetation control programme. These actions not only enhanced the visual appeal of the precinct but also improved line-of-sight and safety across high-traffic areas.

Litter and Alien Invasive Control

Our alien invasive control teams were active throughout the month, working to maintain the health of the precinct’s natural corridors. A special focus was placed on riverway clean-ups, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable environmental management.

Thanks to this concerted effort, a total of 1,504 refuse bags and 28 old tyres were removed from the precinct — a strong indicator of our team’s continued vigilance.

Infrastructure Repairs

Alongside greening, the maintenance team attended to various small-scale infrastructure issues, including the repair of a damaged road barrier and rejuvenation of surrounding gardens in Riverhorse Road.

Riverhorse Valley remains clean, green, and well maintained thanks to the dedicated efforts of our teams. As the year draws to a close, we continue to uphold the highest standards of service delivery for our members and stakeholders.
