We have received an official notice from eThekwini Water and Sanitation regarding a planned emergency shutdown of the Northern Aqueduct system due to a major leak near the Piesang River.
The shutdown will begin at 00:00 on Tuesday, 14 October 2025, and is expected to last for 27 hours, with water supply restoration anticipated by 03:00 on Wednesday, 15 October 2025. This is a planned shutdown to facilitate urgent leak repairs and ensure the long-term stability of the water supply network.
