As January comes to a close, we reflect on the impactful work done by various eThekwini Municipality departments and contractors in Riverhorse Valley. Their contributions have been instrumental in maintaining and improving key infrastructure and green spaces across the precinct.
Electrical Repairs and Maintenance
Earlier this month, the Electricity Department attended to critical repairs:
- Flashing Traffic Signals: Repaired at the intersection of Musa Dladla Road and Queen Nandi Drive.
- Damaged MV Cable Replacement: A damaged medium-voltage cable on Hippo Park Avenue was replaced, ensuring uninterrupted power supply in the area.
Road Repairs and Traffic Signal Replacement
The Roads Department has made significant progress in addressing long-standing issues:
- Pothole Repairs: Teams repaired numerous potholes along Imvubu Park Place after sustained engagement with their Senior Management.
- Traffic Signal Replacement: The damaged traffic signal at the corner of Queen Nandi Drive and Kubu Avenue was replaced, improving traffic flow and safety.
Water and Sanitation Improvements
The Water and Sanitation Department resolved a sewer leak in Quarry Park Place, addressing a persistent issue and improving hygiene in the area.
Parks Department Grass Cutting
Parks Department contractors cut grass on the verges along the southbound N2 ramp onto Queen Nandi Drive, keeping the area neat and well-maintained.
Alien Invasive Control Community Project
As part of a community project driven by the Ward Councillor, a dedicated team of five people has been deployed to address alien invasive plants along Hippo Park Avenue towards the Hullets Bush. This team will be working in the area until July 2025, contributing to the long-term ecological health of the precinct.

These combined efforts highlight the ongoing work being done to improve the infrastructure, safety, and environment of Riverhorse Valley. Thank you for your continued support as we collaborate with municipal teams to maintain the high standards of our precinct.
