MAYOR KAUNDA ACTIVATES CITY’S DISASTER MANAGEMENT TEAMS AS COLD FRONT APPROACHES ETHEKWINI

WITH the cold front fast-approaching, eThekwini Municipality Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda has activated the City’s Disaster Management Teams to be on high alert.

The Mayor has urged eThekwini residents to exercise great caution as temperatures are expected to plummet this week.

“We wish to inform residents that the City’s Disaster Management teams are well equipped and are on standby to assist those who might be affected by this adverse weather conditions. During this cold front, we also urge residents to be vigilant and avoid using flammable materials to keep warm as this can cause an outbreak of fires which can result in loss of lives,” he said.

The weather service promises that the cold front will relent on Thursday.

In case of an emergency, residents are encouraged to contact the Disaster Management Centre on 031 361 000.
